Wenceslao Gil Durantez “Wences” with more than 30 years experience, is one of the most experienced, admired and respected winemakers of Spain. A former professional Real Madrid soccer player, he ended his career due to an injury and decided to attend the School of the Vine in Madrid. He was one of the first students to graduate as a vine and oenology specialist in the early 70′s.
He founded Bodegas Vega Saúco in 1991, after working in different wineries throughout Ribera del Duero, Cigales and Rueda, when he bought vineyards in Toro and a small winery in Morales de Toro. Awards
