BODEGA FEDERICO SCHATZ www.f-schatz.com
Region: Andalucía

Friedrich Schatz comes from a German family that has been linked since 1641 to vine growing in Wuerttemberg. In 1982 F. Schatz began experimenting, and cultivated some top quality vines on his estate. The Romans had planted vines on this exact parcel of land 2000 years previous. Federico planted Lemberger, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Muskattrollinger, and began to manage the land with the Biodynamic philosophy he brought with him to Spain from his families long history of viticulture in Germany.

Federico’s state, Finca la Sanguijuela, was the very first certified ecologic winery of Andalucía and is registered with the CAAE organization (Andalusian Committee of Organic Farming). He creates all of his own power via a solar panel and a windmill. In this small garagiste winery, traditional and modern methods complement each other and resulting in these organically grown top quality wines.

Although these terroir wines are built to age, they are all beautifully approachable even now.

All of Federico’s wines are delivered in 6 bottle wooden cases.
